Thank You

…to all those who have served in the Military and who have sacrificed their lives, or even a part of their lives to protect our freedom.

I got this in one of those forwarded e-mails (yes, one of those that I usually delete before reading) and it touched me.  I thought I’d share it.

It is

the VETERAN,

not the reporter,

who has given us freedom of the press.

It is

the VETERAN,

not the poet,

who has given us freedom of speech.

It is

the VETERAN,

not the campus organizer,

who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is

the VETERAN,

not the lawyer,

who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is

the VETERAN,

not the politician,

who has given us the right to vote.

It is

the VETERAN

who salutes the flag,

and who

serves under the flag.

One of my sisters is a veteran – she was a Navy helicopter pilot and served in Desert Storm.  You can read more about her at this link – she had quite a career in the service.  I’m proud of her.  And thankful.

In all truth, it is God who has given us the privilege of being in the United States.  So often we forget what a blessing it is to live here.  And we forget that our freedom has come at a price.   So thank you, veterans!
